The International Journal of Sub-Saharan African Research (IJSSAR) is a multidisciplinary open-access journal from the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Nigeria. Kenneth Adibe Nwafor, Ph.D., a Professor in the department, founded the journal in 2023. It publishes original and high-quality peer-reviewed research that seeks to advance the frontiers of knowledge, inform policy, and contribute to sustainable solutions to developmental challenges across Africa, with particular attention to the sub-Saharan region.

Aims and Scope

IJSSAR is a journal of the people of sub-Saharan Africa, by the people of sub-Saharan Africa, and for the people of sub-Saharan Africa. It aims to advance scholarly excellence by serving as a leading forum for African scholarship, with a particular focus on amplifying sub-Saharan African voices, perspectives, and experiences through the publication of rigorous, innovative, and impactful research that contributes to both African and regional development while enriching global academic discourse.
