Article Processing Charge (APC) and Refund Policy

The International Journal of Sub-Saharan African Research (IJSSAR) charges an Article
Processing Charge (APC) of One Hundred United States Dollars (US$100) for all manuscripts accepted for publication. There is no submission fee or paper assessment charges for authors submitting manuscripts to the journal.

The APC is intended to support the journal’s operational and publication processes, including but not limited to:

  • Editorial and peer-review administration
  • Copyediting and proofreading
  • Typesetting and formatting
  • DOI registration and metadata management
  • Digital archiving and online hosting
  • Website maintenance and journal management

The APC becomes payable only after a manuscript has successfully passed the peer-review process and has received an official letter of acceptance from the journal.

Please note that:
  • The APC does not cover bank charges, transfer fees, currency conversion charges, or any other transaction-related costs.
  • Authors are responsible for any additional charges imposed by their financial institutions or payment platforms.
  • Payment instructions shall be communicated officially by the journal upon acceptance of the manuscript.

Refund Policy

The APC paid to the International Journal of Sub-Saharan African Research (IJSSAR) is< generally non-refundable, as the fee is used to cover publication processing and journal management expenses. However, refund requests may be considered under exceptional circumstances, including the following:
1. Where an author mistakenly makes multiple payments for the same manuscript.
2. Where payment was made in excess of the required APC amount.
3. Where payment was made before the issuance of an official acceptance letter due to a verified administrative or communication error.
4. In any of these cases, a formal refund request should be submitted to the journal within 48 hours of payment.

All refund requests must be submitted in writing to the journal’s editorial office with valid evidence of payment. The journal reserves the right to review each request individually and make the final decision regarding approval or rejection of the refund application. Approved refunds may be subject to applicable bank or transaction charges.
